1 night/2 days of Rafting Fun near Kathmandu
The most popular rafting river in Nepal is definitely the Trishuli River. Located just west of Kathmandu, its headwaters begin at three points in Tibet. The river cuts a deep canyon in the midst of the Himalayas as it races its way southward to eventually join up with the Ganges River and the Bay of Bengal.
The river features all of the challenges you would expect on a Nepal river with plenty of whitewater rapids. The scenery is exquisite as you behold snowcapped peaks, waterfalls that flow into the river from high bluffs, wildflowers along with rare birds and butterflies. The gorge is impressive all the way.
The Trishuli River is ideal for both first timers as well as experienced rafters and kayakers. It can be rafted any time of year. Monsoon season is especially exciting as the river is at its peak and flows at a fast pace.
Swiss Nepal Family Trekking & Expedition has been featuring this river for many years, and it is probably our most popular rafting destination. This is probably because of its close proximity to Kathmandu as well as being able to offer thrill after thrill as you shoot the rapids.
DAY 1 – Drive from Kathmandu to Trisuli River starting point.
DAY 2 – Departure to your next destination
DAY 1 – We travel approximately 3 – 4 hours to our starting point at Charaudi Red House (81 km from Kathmandu) by luxury tourist bus. Today we will experience several Class II and III rapids. We stop at River Fun Beach Resort for lunch where we can stop to rest and swim. There is a hot buffet lunch at noon. In our free time, you can try your hand at kayaking, visiting local farms or swim in their private pool. In the evening, there is a dinner along with dancing and singing around the campfire. We will spend the night in either a deluxe safari tent or a regular tent.
DAY 2 – We wake up around 7:30 to a hot cup of tea and breakfast. Our guide will take you on a village tour where you will have an opportunity to learn more about the local culture. Afterwards, you will head to your next destination (Chitwan, Pokhara or Kathmandu). Some groups may elect to do additional rafting on the Trisuli River.
