There is no place you can drive to in Nepal that offers a better sunrise and sunset than Sarangkot Hill outside of Pokhara. Situated on a high hill, it overlooks the incredibly beautiful Annapurna Mountains. It is only five kilometers from Pokhara, but its elevation is almost twice that of Pokhara (Sarangkot elev. 1592 m/Pokhara 820 m). Here, spend the night in a nice hotel, where you can have great food and a good room, while enjoying both sunrise and sunset over the mountains.
This trip features plenty of adventure. From Sarangkot Hill, experience the thrill of paragliding over Phewa Lake while overlooking the incredible snowcapped peaks of the Annapurna Mountains. You will soar like an eagle with an experienced paragliding guide who will safely navigate your flight for maximum enjoyment.
But there is much more on this trip as you explore the several mountain lakes of the Pokhara valley. You will have an opportunity to explore the countryside, enjoy scenic views plus visit Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples. There will even be a boat ride on Phewa Lake with a visit to the island temple, a sacred spot on the only island in the lake.
Then it is off to Chitwan National Park to enjoy a jungle safari as you look for Royal Bengal Tigers and One-Horned Indian Rhinoceroses on the back of an elephant. You will have the unique opportunity of interacting with the Tharu people, who have called these jungles home for centuries.
PARAGLIDING:
These are tandem flights where the passenger flies with a licensed, professional pilot. Each person has a separate harness which is attached to the wings as well as each other. After some basic instructions, the glider is launched off Sarangkot Hill and you just sit back and relax as you glide above Phewa Lake for 35 – 45 minutes. The flight feels more like sitting back in an easy chair as you look over the lake, the city and the snowcapped peaks.
Another paragliding option is what is called The Cloud Buster. This flight glides on the thermals as you rise above Sarangkot Hill, soaring with eagles and hawks. This flight lasts 30 minutes with landing by the side of Phewa Lake.
The final paragliding option is the Cross-Country Flight. This features the opportunity to fly from one valley to another. It takes around one hour as you glide on the thermal currents, rising to heights of 2500 to 3400 meters.
