1 Day Whitewater Rafting with 2 Days Chitwan

When traveling to Chitwan National Park, most people have to travel beside the mighty Trisuli River. But why not ride the rapids on the way down to Chitwan National Park where you can experience the thrill of shooting rapids with incredible mountain scenery?  It can be done on this short, but exciting trip in Nepal.

Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has been a major success in the comeback of the Royal Bengal Tiger as well as the One Horned Indian Rhinoceros. Its 932 square kilometers are a wonderful experience which you can explore on foot, on the back of an elephant or in a jeep safari.

The park is close to the Trisuli River, whose headwaters are in Tibet where it rises from three different sources. The Trisuli River is one of the most popular rivers in Nepal for rafting and kayaking as it has plenty of challenges.  It is great for first time white-water rafters plus there are some more challenging rapids for those seeking greater thrills. All the while, go down through impressive gorges and scenic valleys.

This trip can be a stand-alone trip, or incorporated into another package tour or trek. The Trisuli and Chitwan National Park are on the way to other locations in the country, so little time is lost going from one trip to another.

Ask your representative at Swiss Nepal Family Trekking & Expedition about incorporating the 1 Day White Water Rafting via 2 Nights Chitwan National Park trip. It will be a great addition to your total Nepal experience.

DAY 1 – Drive to Rafting Point, then to Chitwan after rafting trip.
DAY 2 – Chitwan National Park
DAY 3 – Chitwan and return to Kathmandu

DAY 1 – Rafting: It is a three to four hour journey from Kathmandu to our starting point for the rafting excursion. We drive to Charaudi (85 km) where the rafting begins. We take on several rapids before stopping along the river for lunch.  After lunch, we encounter more exciting white-water rapids until we come to our fishing spot for hot tea/coffee with snacks. We will board our private transport to Chitwan National Park. In late afternoon, we will visit a Tharu Village to meet the people who have lived for centuries in the jungles of Chitwan. Dinner at the resort.

DAY 2 – Jungle Safari: We rise early for breakfast, and then it is on our journey on the back of an elephant to look for tigers, rhinos, bears and deer in the jungle. We will return to our resort for lunch and then off to a canoe trip down the Rapti River to look for crocodiles, rhinos and birds. At the end of the rafting trip, take a jungle walk back to the resort. In the evening, enjoy a Tharu Cultural Show.

DAY 3 – Chitwan and Return: We wake up early for a jungle walk to do some bird watching. There are hundreds of varieties of birds in Chitwan National Park and we will see many of them. After our walk, it is breakfast and then departure to Kathmandu by first class tourist bus.
